On Capitalism Vs. Insanity
Last quarter the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg spent 10 billion dollars on Meta. 10 billion dollars on a business that doesn’t exist, on top of the billions spent the quarter before that and the billions that will be spent next quarter and the one after that. If more than a 100 billion dollars is needed for a start up, it shouldn’t be a business. This isn’t capitalism this is insanity. For the sake of shareholders, users, and the rest of us Mark Zuckerberg should be removed as the CEO of the company formerly known as Facebook.
On Capitalism vs biology
Starlink, have you heard of it? It is Elon Musk’s company Space X plan to launch 42,000 satellites into low orbit and provide internet wherever you are. I remember when I was a kid, I asked a geologist if the planet needed the oil we were sucking out of it. I was laughed at, instead of being told that this is interesting line of questioning as clearly the amount of oil burned has consequential effects on Earth.
I once went to the Hayden planetarium at night for a private tour of the galaxy. Leaving earth the imagery was composed from live satellite data. I was mesmerized by the image of the electro magnetic radiation leaving the earth and took a picture of it.
Electromagnetic energy leaving earth
That little dot at the top to the right is planet earth. The blue waves of light is all the electrical waves humans produce leaving our atmosphere and going into space.
I suspect if I asked a physicist if there was anything to worry about if 42,000 satellites were beaming down signals strong enough for me to watch video anywhere in the world they would answer me like the geologist.
But what about insects, what about single cell organisms, what about plants? In a capitalist system, no one will ask what effects blanketing the entire planet with radio waves will have on life on earth. The money is in the monthly subscriptions.
