A plan to reduce fatalities and injuries on the Malibu section of PCH by 90%.

Since Emily Shane’s murder as a pedestrian on PCH near Point Dume on October 17th, 2010, there have been 62 deaths and thousands of life and family changing injuries on the section of PCH between the McClure Tunnel and County Line.
The one factor that all these crashes have in common, is speed. The enclosed plan solves excessive (and non-excessive) speeding by using existing autonomous vehicle technology in an innovative and socially beneficial manner.
The idea simply stated: is to have pairs of autonomous vehicles spaced out 5 minutes apart traveling at thespeed limit (or lower if required for safety) in both directions. Pairs of vehicles working together will act as a safety pace-setters, preventing speeders to pass them thereby eliminating excesses speeding which is common on PCH.
The era of the Michael’s Bohm’s whose excessive speeding on October 17, 2023 killed Pepperdine students, Desyn Williams, Asha Weir, Niamh Poslton and Peyton Stewart will finally be over and after decades, we can enter a safe era on PCH; until the work to transform Pacific Coast Highway to Pacific Coast Parkway is completed
This is why emergency funding allocated to make PCH safer should be used to implement this life saving and socially beneficial idea that the people desire.
